Miriam Glenn

BOILING SPRINGS - Miriam Hamrick Glenn, 87, died Monday, March 31, 2014, surrounded by her family at home. Born in Cleveland County on April 9, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James Yates and Marjorie Pierce Hamrick.
Miriam was active in her community and church. She was a lifelong member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and served in many different capacities. She was a member of the Boiling Springs Homemakers club, Philsonian Book Club and the Cleveland County Quilters Guild. She was an organizing member of the Flint Hills Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution and served as regent. She was skilled at sewing and loved to quilt. She enjoyed reading and studied her Bible daily.
In addition to her parents, Miriam is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Lee Glenn Sr.; a sister, Catherine Andrews; and two brothers, Robert Y. Hamrick and Bruce Hamrick.
Miriam is survived by two sons, Dr. A. L. Glenn and wife Sandra of Pickens, S.C., and John Glenn and wife Sherri of Boiling Springs; two daughters, Marjorie Busby and husband Walker of Carboro, and Jane Stroud and husband Charles of Boiling Springs; a sister, Emma McGinnis and husband Henry of Eden; a sister-in-law, Abby Wesson Hamrick of Boiling Springs; ten grandchildren, Ryan Glenn and wife Tracy, Stephanie Glenn McCann and husband Matt, Gerry Lipscomb and fiancée Anna Spell, Patrick Lipscomb, Rebecca James, Erin Stroud, Katherine Duncan and husband Ben, Emily Gockerman and husband Joseph, Lee Glenn and James Glenn; and ten great-grandchildren,
The family would like to thank their mother's caregivers, along with Dr. Mike Ribadeneyra and his staff at Shelby Medical Associates and Hospice for the wonderful care that they gave Miriam during her illness.
Visitation: The family will receive friends following the service in the Life Enrichment Center.
Memorial service: 5 p.m. Thursday at Boiling Springs Baptist Church
