Oveda Green

GROVER-- Oveda Philbeck Green, 80, died Saturday Dec. 28, 2013, at 2846 Bettis Road surrounded by her family. Born in Cherokee County SC., on March 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ephriam and Lona Humphries Philbeck.
Oveda was a lifetime member of New Buffalo Baptist Church and retired after serving over 30 years of service from Shelby Elastics. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her family. Oveda was a "True Mother".
In addition to her parents, Oveda is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Green; two grandchildren, David Mark Byers, and Travis Gene Watkins; two sisters, Hattie Mae Turner and Mary Bell; and four brothers, Paul Philbeck, Claude Philbeck, James Philbeck and Boyce Philbeck; and two half-brothers.
Oveda is survived by five daughters, Vickie Harrelson and husband Joe of Gastonia, Debbie Bell and husband Fred of Shelby, Patty Holmes and husband Larry of Grover, Cathy Buchanan and husband Jeff of Jefferson SC, and Roxanne Byers and husband Mark of Grover; a sister, Ruby Judd of Blacksburg SC; a brother, Tom Philbeck and wife Ruth of Patterson Springs; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her faithful companion "Winston".
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday Dec. 31, 2013, at 11 a.m. at New Buffalo Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Green officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
