SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth Dellinger Anderson, 86, formerly of Shelby and Griffin, Ga., died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 21, 1922, in Cherryville, to the late Lonzo Dow and Ella Houser Dellinger. She married John Carmen Anderson on Nov. 20, 1942. Her family and community activities were very important.
An active member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, Ruth cherished her friends in the Ladies 80+ Sunday school class and more than 40 years on Allendale Drive allowed Ruth to form deep friendships with the Allendale neighbors.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Stowe; and sisters, Teeny D. Heavner and Daphine D. Watts.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carol and John Carmen Anderson Jr. of Griffin Ga.; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Gregory Allen and Laura of Tulsa, Okla., and John Benjamin and Angela of Newnan, Ga.; and great-grandchildren Darius Steven and Laila Janell of Tulsa, and Caden Matthew of Newnan. Ruth was very fond of her nieces and nephews including, Gary and Phyllis Thornburg, Kenny and Patsy Dellinger, Frank and Dana Gay Henley of Cherryville and Stephen and Cindy Watts of Gastonia.
