SHELBY-Samuel Eugene Warlick, 88, of 120 Carriage Court, Shelby, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
Mr. Warlick was born in Cleveland County on May 16, 1924, to the late Samuel Monroe Warlick and Nancy Elizabeth Towery Warlick. He was a U.S. Army
veteran serving during World War II
in the Pacific Theater from 1944 to 1946, after which he married the love of his life, Naomi Stone. In 1946, they opened Warlick Grocery in Casar. They later moved to W. Va., where he was a bookkeeper for U.S. Steel's mining division. After returning to N.C., he worked for Costner Furniture for several years. Then in 1967, he became an agent for State Farm Insurance until his retirement in 1995 where he was fondly known as "Mr. State Farm."
He had a deep and abiding faith in his loving God, and was an active member in his Faith.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his twin sister, Christine Warlick Costner.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Naomi Stone Warlick; two daughters, Deborah Morton and husband Larry of Charlotte and Beth Lindsay and husband Reid of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Eric Morton and wife Shelly, Paul Morton and wife Heather, Philip Morton and wife Emily, Emily Morton Webb and husband Bradley, Charles Lindsay, Megan Lindsay Stephens and husband Shane, and Laura Beth Lindsay; and eight great grandchildren, Mallory Morton, Madelyn Morton, Hatcher Morton, Carson Morton, Zoe Morton, Adaline Webb, Isabelle Webb, and Pippa Morton.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
