Speedy Bowman

KINGS MOUNTAIN- Oscar Newell "Speedy" Bowman, 81, a resident of 407 Crocker Road, Kings Mountain, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at his home.
Born in Forsyth County, he was the son of the late Carl W. and Mamie Moser Bowman and was also preceded in death by a sister, Val Bowman Bennett. He retired as a truck driver after 32 years. He was a member of Oak View Baptist Church of Kings Mountain, Fairview Masonic Lodge and White Plains Shrine Club. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judy Jones Bowman of Kings Mountain; sons, Rickey D. Bowman and wife Angie of Cary, Dennis J. Bowman and wife Barbara of Charlotte, and Aaron Belt and wife Annette of Ellenboro; daughters, Lisa Bowman Rush and husband Richard of Charlotte, and Kimberly Bowman Hayes of Mocksville; grandchildren, Jennifer Bowman, Chase O'Brien, Rainey Belt and Wendi Belt; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Harris Funeral Home
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel

Burial: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, with full Military Honors and Masonic Service
