SHELBY - The Rev. Thomas "Hoss" Irvin, 74, of Kingstown Road, died on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Carolina's Medical Center - Main of Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Dec. 14, 1939, a son of the late Lee and Annie Connor Irvin.
He was a well digger for 30 years and was the former pastor and a current member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Kingstown.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Marie Wall Irvin; four sons, Danny Irvin, Thomas Irvin, Jr., and Chad Irvin and wife Cylee, all of Shelby, and Chris Higgins of Gaffney, S.C.; four daughters, Catherine Irvin and Denise Irvin, both of Shelby, Tina Hawkins and husband Ronnie of Mooresboro, and Amy Reynolds and husband Tim of Ellenboro; one brother, Clifford Irvin of Shelby; two sisters, Daisy Williams of Shelby and Dorothy Tate of Caroleen; 21 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McKinney-Landreth & Carroll Funeral and Cremation Service.
Celebration of life service: 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Kingstown The body will lie-in-state for one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Will follow in the church cemetery.
