Wesley Lucas

SHELBY - Wesley Lucas was born Aug. 19, 1980, in Shelby to Johnny Thompson and Jacqueline Tate. He departed this life, Nov. 29, 2012 at his residence in Brooklyn, N.Y.
While in New York, Wesley took solace in experiencing diverse cultural acts of entertainment. While growing up in Southeast Alaska on the Prince of Whales Island, he took pleasure in the fun and relaxation of the do-what-you-feel-like island lifestyle. His free spirit engaged him into intellectual conversations that resulted in different religions, and multi-social gatherings.
Wesley was preceded in death by his biological parents, Johnny Thompson and Jacqueline Leak Tate; adopted father, Kenneth Lucas; grandparents Lillie and Jack Leak, Ida and Vellie Thompson; and uncle Bernard Leak and Furman Thompson; aunt Sarah Rudasill, Etta Mae Smith, and Margaret Ussery.
Wesley is survived by his step-father, Melvin Tate of Shelby; and adopted mother Norma Lucas of Burksville, Ky.; four brothers, Jason "Benjamin" Lucas of Shelby, Chad Tate of Spartanburg S.C., Avery Leak of Severn, Md., Christopher Leak of Alexandria Va; and his sister Jenne "Tasha" Lucas of Alexandria, Va.; aunt Frances Stripling of Spartanburg, S.C., Juanita Leak of Alexandria, Va and Abigail Leak of Woodbridge, Va., Irene Brown, Mary Thompson, Joyce Lattimore, Tecora Malachi of Shelby; and uncle Dexter Leak of Alexandria Va., Vellie Thompson Jr. of Shelby, and David Thompson of Charlotte.
