Wilburn Evans

SHELBY - Wilburn Trammel Evans, 79, passed within the arms of his Savior on March 10, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born in Cleveland County on May 2, 1934, he was the son of the late Fred H. Evans Sr. and Adrean Lemons Evans.
Wilburn was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed cars and square dancing. Wilburn designed Jacquard Loom clothing labels. He first worked for Baxter's Corp in Shelby and was then self-employed.
In addition to his parents, Wilburn is preceded in death by a sister, Marie Joyce Evans.
He is survived by a son, Lt. Col. Scott H. Evans, USAFR (ret.) and wife Kay L. Evans of Riverview, Fla.; five brothers, Raymond Evans and wife Patricia, Randall Evans and wife Barbara, Steve Evans and wife Martha, Fred Evans Jr. and wife Gail, and Rick Evans and wife Cheri, all of Shelby; two sisters, Nita Caldwell and husband Ned of Lincolnton, and Mary Lee and husband Donald of Kings Mountain; numerous nieces and nephews; and ex-wife and friend, Polly Bridges and husband Dixon of Casar.
Visitation: The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Carriage Room at the funeral home.
Celebration of life service: 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
