SHELBY- David Archie Duncan, 78, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Hospice Wendover.
Born in Newman, Ga., on March 29, 1935, he was the son of the late Archie Reese and Thelma Greene Duncan.
He graduated from Newman High School in Newman, received a B.S. in Textiles Management from Georgia Institute of Technology, and graduated summa cum laude from Lander University with a B.S. in Accounting. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby, a church volunteer, and a member of the Frank Garver Sunday School Class. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired from the Air Force as a civilian accountant.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Duncan and Tony Duncan; and a sister, Joyce Baker.
Mr. Duncan is survived by his children, Debra Duncan of Raleigh, Scott Duncan, and Jeff Duncan, both of Shelby; a grandson, Jeremy Duncan of Shelby; a sister, Juanita Smith and husband Charles of Wedowee, Ala.; and a brother, Jack Duncan and wife Donna of Wedowee.
Visitation: The family will receive friends after the service.
