KINGS MOUNTAIN- Milton Huitt Reep, 80, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2013, after a year-long battle with leukemia. He was born April 30, 1933, as the fifth of eight children to Pearl and Jones Reep of Lincoln County.

Huitt is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Lantz Reep of Kings Mountain; son, Mike Reep and wife Sharon of Raleigh; and son, Mark Reep and wife Kelley of Cary. He also has four grandchildren, Emily Reep, Casey Reep, John Reep and Jojo Reep.
A graduate of Union High School in Vale, Huitt was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. The G.I .Bill allowed him to attend Appalachian Teacher's College in Boone, now Appalachian State University, where he obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in education and went on to teach elementary education in Gastonia. He then changed careers, first attending the Charlotte Memorial Hospital School of Administration, and then leading hospitals in Burgaw, Sanford, Smithfield and Kings Mountain. He was a lifetime member of the N.C. Hospital Association; a 30-year Rotarian; a Paul Harris fellow; and an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and as a member of Central United Methodist Church.
After retirement, Huitt enjoyed beekeeping, farming, golfing and working part-time for the U.S. Postal Service. He also stayed very involved with his extended family through Reep, Rhyne and Lantz reunions.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Central United Methodist Church in Kings Mountain.
