SHELBY - Bessie Littlejohn, 70, of 2512 Aken Drive, departed this life on Friday, May 11, 2018, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

She was born March 20, 1948 in Cherokee County, SC as the youngest daughter of the late Randolph and Fannie Smith Littlejohn.

Bessie was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School and she took additional classes at Cleveland Communtity College. She was a member of New Life Christian Church in Kings Mountain, NC for 25 years where she participated through the years as a Sunday school teacher, founder and head of the Drama Department and member of the Culinary Committee.

Her hobbies included cooking, playwriting, event planning and shoping.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Eunice Smith, Lilly Woods, Rose Jefferies and Elizabeth Borders (Leonard) and her brothers, Ben Littlejohn, Zebedee Littlejohn, Rayford Littlejohn and Billy Littlejohn.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Torance "Root' Littlejohn and Sherman Littlejohn (Ashley Ford) both of the home; one brother, Kenneth Littlejohn of Columbus, GA; one sister, Thelma Allison of Shelby; five grandchildren, Minister Jeremy Littlejohn, Pastor Tavin Littlejohn, Jared Littlejohn, Jayla Littlejohn and Raven McDowell all of Shelby; one great-grandchild, Adison Littlejohn also of Shelby; two daughters-in-law, Teresa Brooks and Coralene Littlejohn both of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Annie Littlejohn of Shelby; a god-son, Stanley Webber of Shelby; honorary children, Laura Borders, Barbara Borders and Bishop Randy Borders; a special friend, Flossie Hardin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Faith Harvest Church at 2 p.m. with Bishop Randy Borders officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemtery. The family will be receiving friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Wednesday and at other times at her home.
