GAFFNEY, S.C. - Betty Ellis Rippy Midgette, 79, of 106 Ellis Ferry Avenue, Apartment 104, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center. Born in Shelby, she was the widow of the late Jerry Dean Rippy and daughter of the late Buren Trent Ellis and Etta Dawson Ellis.
Betty was a homemaker and member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Gary Rippy and wife Cathy of Gaffney, Douglas Stanford of Gaffney, and David Midgette and Michael Midgette, both of Ohio; a daughter, Renee Rippy of Indio, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Dellinger of Patterson Springs and Sara Smith and husband Jerry of Shelby; a special friend, Shirley Satterfield; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a beloved dog, Candy.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Rippy and Richard Rippy; a brother, E. B. Ellis; and a sister, Austiene Chandler.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Blakely Funeral Home

Interment: Will be in the Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery
