SHELBY - Bruce Palmer Walker, 82, died July 18, 2013, at his home.

Born in Cleveland County on Dec. 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Merlin Hasque and Mary Sue McBrayer Walker. Bruce was a member of the Camps Creek Baptist Church in Mooresboro (No. 1 Township). He retired after 38 years from Overnight Transportation and was the owner of Rose Creek Family Campground in Morganton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lucille Bridges Walker; a son, Jo-seph "Joey" Walker; a granddaughter, Amy Walker; two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Walker is survived by a daughter, Debbie Clark and husband Steve of Morganton; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Walker; five grandchildren, Tracy Humphries, Wendy Greene, Jennifer Ruppe, Haley Padgett, and Jim Walker; and fourteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 5 p.m. Monday at Camps Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Morehead officiating.
Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m. in the sanctuary before the service, and other times at the home on 202 Worthington Street.
