BLACKSBURG, S.C.-Carl Edward Pennington, 72, of 530 Rock Springs Road, passed away Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012, at his residence.

Born in Blacksburg, Mr. Pennington was the husband of Barbara Summitt Pennington of the home, and the son of the late Amos Albert and Nina Ruth Crook Pennington. He retired from textiles and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Pennington is survived by three daughters, Carla Pennington O'Bryan of Blacksburg, Christine Pennington Dysart and husband Stuart of Shelby, and Kelly Pennington Warburton and husband Kevin of Blacksburg; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Blacksburg; and two grandchildren, Cannon and Abbie Warburton of Blacksburg.
Mr. Pennington was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William Albert Pennington and J.W. Pennington; and two sisters, Alma Walker and Frances Turner.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gordon Mortuary. The family will also be at the residence.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday at Rock Springs Baptist Church
