ANNADALE, VA.-Conley L. Moffett, 80, passed peacefully into the arms of Christ on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012.
After graduating from high school, he joined the Army where he was a jumpmaster, medic and Airborne Ranger during the Korean War.
A graduate of Appalachian State Teacher's College in biology, physics and chemistry, he taught at Ashley High School in Gastonia before becoming North Carolina State Naturalist. Later, he joined the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service from which he retired as Assistant Deputy Director.
Conley's life was centered on family, friends and a deep commitment to Christ. He was the beloved husband of Frances Moffett and devoted father of Carol Moffett.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from noon to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home, Cherryville
