SHELBY – Darrell Carnish Navey, of Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 20, 1938, in Shelby. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Navey was preceded in death by one son, Darrell Carnish Navey, Jr.; and siblings, Ben Navey, Gene Navey, Elizabeth (Lib) Monteith, and Gerald Navey.
He is survived by four sons, Derek Navey, Daniel Navey, Ricky Navey and Timothy Navey, all of Shelby; two daughters, Sherri Navey Bridges of Blacksburg, S.C., and Teresa Navey Childers of China Grove; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, Arnold Navey.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral service: 4:30 p.m. Sunday at First Wesleyan Church, on the corner of Kings Road in Shelby.
Memorials: May be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby.
