BLACKSBURG, S.C.- Charles Dean Mellon, 69, of 641 Moss Trail Road, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born in Shelby, he was the son of the late Charles Wray Mellon and Mary Etta Wright Spain. Mr. Mellon retired from Davis Transfer and was a member of Cherokee Falls Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Ricky Dean Mellon and wife Beth, of Blacksburg, and Robert Mellon and wife Randa, of Powdersville; a daughter, Kimberly Lynn Odom and husband, Gene, of N. Augusta, Ga.; a brother, Wayne Mellon and wife Peggy, of York; four grandchildren, Alfred Southerland, Sarah Mellon, Chris Mellon and Tiffany Judd; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gene Mellon and Charles Ray Mellon.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at Blakely Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Ricky and Beth Mellon, 639 Moss Trail Road, Blacksburg.
Graveside service: 3 p.m. Wednesday at Frederick Memorial Gardens
