SHELBY - Roy Donald Blanton, 76, of 211 North Morgan Street, Apartment B1, passed away on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center – Charlotte.

He was born on June 11, 1937, in Cherokee County, S.C., to the late Roy Labor Blanton and Lillian Littlejohn Nance Blanton. He attended Temple Baptist Church. Donald was employed by C&S Furniture, Maxwell Brothers, Lutz Furniture, Sears and Alston Bridges BBQ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Newman Blanton.
Survivors include two sons, Scotty Lee Blanton and wife Tanya of Gaffney, S.C., and Donald Glenn Blanton and wife Ellie of Patterson Springs; brothers, John Nance, Jr. of Gastonia and Tommy Doster of New House; two sisters, Elaine Causby of Shelby and Linda Kay Mullinax of Gaffney; five grandchildren, Tabitha Elaine Blanton, Robert Blanton, Allison Blanton, Rusty Blanton and Leigh Blanton; and special friend, Janet Lindeman.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Stamey Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at their own homes.
