SHELBY- Edna Earle Grigg Allen, 94, passed away on Thursday, Sept 1, 201, at Hospice Cleveland County.

She was the daughter of the late Plato Durham and Macie Ford Grigg. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Cavney Allen; siblings, Max Ford Grigg, William Stanford Grigg, Ruth Grigg Hardin, Charles Donald Grigg; two brother-in-laws, Knox Hardin and Bill Cox; and sister-in-law, Becky Grigg. She was employed by Union Trust, Independence and BB&T Bank. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in various church activities. Mrs. Allen was an exemplary Christian lady as well as a loving mother, loving sister, hard worker and great cook.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her son, James "Jimmy" Cavney Allen, Jr.of Shelby; sisters, Margaret Cox of Spartanburg, Lynn Moss and husband Art of Shelby; sister-in-law, Lillian Grigg Cornwell of Denver NC; numerous nieces and nephews and many loving and caring friends. She was loved by her Hospice of Wendover Family, who called her Mawmaw.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at the graveside immediately following the service
Graveside Service: 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Elizabeth Baptist Church cemetery
