SHELBY- Ellen Grafing Carscaddon, 58, died Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Hospice Cleveland County.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on June 26, 1955, she was the daughter of Jack and Norma Kunz Grafing of Fletcher. Ellen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She started working in 1989 at Rainbow Connection in many capacities and at present was the director. She and her Maltese were a certified therapy dog team and she took them to local nursing homes and assisted living homes to spend time with the residents. She was very creative with her needlework and crochet. She also enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening and yard work.
Ellen is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Carscaddon; three daughters, Megan Carscaddon and husband Steven of Shelby, Katie Carscaddon of Richmond, Va., and Lindsey Carscaddon of Brevard; a brother, Richard Grafing of Toledo, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Georgia Rose Carscaddon.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. Rosary will begin at 5 p.m. in the chapel.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Help of Christians
