GROVER - Mr. Emmett Steve Jackson, 73, died Saturday November 10, 2012 at Hospice of Wendover.
Born in Blacksburg, S.C. on September 19, 1939 he is the son of the late Emmett Rogers and Alma Wilson Jackson. Steve was a lifelong active member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, Crest High School football and the Atlanta Braves and he served his country in the United States Air Force. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Bohler.
Steve was a devoted husband to his wife of 50 years, Peggy L. Jackson; loving father to his children; a daughter, Sherri Jackson of Earl; and son Mike Jackson and wife, Marie, of Kings Mountain; loving grandfather to his grandchildren, Amber, Rashe, Zach, and Macayla and great-grandson Hunter.
Celebration of life service: Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church
Officiating: Rev. Russ Bradley
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
