MOORESBORO - Mrs. Evelyn Elizabeth Toney Bailey, 79, of 141 Memory Lane, died on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2010, at her resi-dence.
A native of Rutherford County, she was born on April 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Cicero and Dora Jones Toney. She was a retired textile worker and homemaker. She was a member of Race Path Baptist Church where she served on the building and grounds committee, hospitality committee, chairman of the prayerline, former director of the senior citizens group, worked with costumes for the children's drama department, a member of the nominating committee, was active in fund-raising for all areas of the church and was a former choir member. She was a contestant in the Ms. Senior Rutherford County contest and placed first in crafts. Mrs. Bailey was also a member of Woodman of the World. She enjoyed playing the piano, canning fresh fruits and vegetables and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Curtis and her second husband, Raymond Bai-ley; one sister, Ocie Jane Toney; four brothers, Glenn Toney, Coran Toney, Zeno Toney nd Harley Toney.
She is survived by brothers, Paul Toney and his wife, Ernestine of Ellenboro and Dr. Robert Toney of Ellenboro; daughters, Patricia Whisnant of Mooresboro and Kathy Culbertson and her husband, Jimmy, of Forest City; step-daughters, Karen Jowers and her husband, Steve of Blackville, S.C. and Deborah Montjoy and her husband, Jerry of Eutawville, S.C. and Sandra Lott and Judy Koenig of Harlem, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jason Whisnant and his wife Anna and Joshua Whisnant; step-grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson, Jessica Martin, Nikki Lynne Martin, Amanda Whitley, Kory Montjoy, and Jason Lott; one great-grandchild, William Whisnant; step-great-grandchildren, Jonathan Anderson, Maddie Whitley, Sophie Whitley, Dalton Lott and Colby Lott.
Visitation: The family will receive friends after the service at the church
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Race Path Baptist Church
