MOORESBORO - Fred Junior Whitaker, known as "Hambone" 84, passed away May 10,
Mr. Whitaker was born November 23, 1929 in Cleveland County. He was a member of Race Path Baptist Church and a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred C. Whitaker and Mary Price Whitaker; wife Norma Jean Kirk Whitaker; brothers, Lawrence Whitaker, Carl Whitaker, Paul Whitaker; and sister, Edna Moore.
He is survived by son, Fred Michael Whitaker and wife Robin of Mooresboro; daughters, Mary Amanda Mauney of Shelby, Martha Diane Whitaker of Shelby; step-daughter, Sandra Barbour of Shelby; step-son, George F. Barbour and wife Mary of Jacksonville, Florida; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Race Path Baptist Church and other times at the home of Mike Whitaker, 1594 Race Path Church Rd, Mooresboro
Funeral Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Race Path Baptist Church
