CASAR- William Eugene "Gene" Walker, 81, of Casar, passed away April 18, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

Born Nov. 11, 1931, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Dewey Walker and Eva Parker Walker. He retired from Century Chair in Hickory from the upholstery department. He also served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force and was a lifelong member of Olive Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and in various other positions for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Parker Walker; son-in-law, Terry Laxton; two brothers, Boyd Walker and Howard Walker; and an infant sister, Margie Walker.
Survivors include a son, Charles Walker of Casar; two daughters, Joette Walker Parker and husband Delbert, and Jackie W. Laxton, all of Casar; brother, Willard Walker of Casar; sister, Dorothy Willis of Casar; grandchildren, Alex, Seth and Amber Trumble, Regina P. Clarke Willis and husband Donald, and Katrina Greene; and great-grandchildren, Trevor Ledbetter, Pheobe Lane, Dallas Clarke Davis and husband Buddy, Page Clarke, Judge Clarke, Caleb Willis, Jody Willis, Jacob Willis, Katie Willis, and John Daniel Willis.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
Graveside Service: 5 p.m. Saturday at Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery
