SHELBY- Mrs. Ida Dee Hopper Archie, 74, departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Hospice House of Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, she was born Feb. 18, 1938, to the late Ambrose and Nancy Lorraine Ross Hopper.

Mrs. Archie was a member of Hoppers Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Shelby. She was employed at Cone Mills Textiles until her health declined. Mrs. Archie was a kind and loving mother. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings and spending time with her grandkids.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Roseveltte "Bill" Archie; one sister, Nellie Young; one brother, Ambrose Hopper Jr.; one grandchild, Kareem Archie; and one great-grandchild, Pearlie Smith.
Left to cherish many fond memories are: four sons, Stephen Archie and wife Diane of Shelby, James J. Archie Jr. and wife Bonita, Thomas Hopper, and Jerry Hopper of Kingstown; one daughter, Lora Archie of Shelby; one sister, Alma Jean McShaw of Shelby; one brother, Alphonzo McShaw of N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Vic Archie and wife Lula of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Hopper of Shelby; one special nephew, Randritz Hopper of Newman, Ga.; one special niece that was raised in the home like a daughter, Malinda Surratt of Shelby; fourteen grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church
