ISAAC HILL
SHELBY- Mr. Isaac Hill, 83, of 1631 Stony Point Road, Elizabeth Ave. Shelby, N.C., departed this life on Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. He was born on April 23, 1931, in Cleveland County to the late George Washington Hill, Sr. and the late Ella Brown Hill.
Isaac was educated in the public schools of Cleveland County, attending Douglas High and graduating from Green Bethel. He also attended North Carolina A & T State University before beginning his career in the military. Isaac enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1949 until retirement in 1970, where he served as a Tech Sergeant and fuel line specialist. His military career led him to serve and travel around the world, including tours in the Korean War and Vietnam. During his tours of duty away from home, Isaac always kept his family in mind, sending them whatever they needed. Isaac retired from the service after over 21 years of devotion to his country.
After retiring, Isaac and his family moved to Detroit, Mi where he taught at the local community college and was also a Cub Scout leader. After 2 years, he moved his family back to Cleveland County, where he began his second career at Carolina Freight and retired there after 20 some odd years. While in Cleveland County, Isaac became a member of Lawndale First Baptist Church where he was a former Assistant Sunday school Superintendent and former Sunday school teacher. He also was a member of the Senior Choir and a Trustee.
Isaac also became a member of the Masons, being active at several lodges, including, Grand High Priest at Clover Hill Grand Royal Arch Number 1, Tyler at Clover Hill Lodge Number 10, Past Grand Treasurer and Past Grand Secretary NC, Grand Recorder at Calvin Hill Grand Royal Arch Chapter, St. John Knights Templar, St. John Grand Consistory, Salem Grand Shrine Temple, Past Grand Treasurer Patron of Elizabeth Chapter Number 3 Order of the Eastern Star, Treasurer at the Joshua of the Heroines of Jericho and Isaac also helped with the youth division and was a past Youth Patron.
Isaac could often be found working on cars, doing crossword puzzles, and attending the local trade barn. Isaac enjoyed frying fish at all the family gatherings and reunions, dancing and listening to music. Isaac was always a very avid reader; he would read anything from brochures to books, magazines and newspapers, but most important was his Bible.
He was a caring individual that would lend a helping hand to anyone. He was also a father figure to many others in the community. Isaac will always be remembered and never forgotten for his smile would brighten up any room. His concern for others was always heartfelt and genuine. Isaac was the type of man that would do anything in his power to help others succeed.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Berry (Birl) and brother-in-law, Bobby Gene Ruff.
Left to cherish fond memories of him are his wife, Martha Finney Hill; his children, Ronald "Keith" Hill and Jacquelyn "Jackie" Hill both of Shelby, Karen Hill of Yuma AZ, Darrell Hill of Greensboro, NC, Kenneth "Kenny" Hill of Shelby and Eric Hill of Bolivia, NC; two brothers, George Washington Hill, Jr. (Rachel) of Detroit, MI and Robert "Bobby" Lee Hill (Bernice) of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Annie Mae Ruff of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren, Rodney Littlejohn, Amila "Shay" Littlejohn, Tyrice Littlejohn, Candice Hill, Steven Hill and Miranda Glenn; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Littlejohn, Azariah Littlejohn, Josiah McGee; brother-in-law, Willis Finney; sister-in-law, Mabel Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m., on Thursday, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Jackie Hill, 2213 Elizabeth Ave. Shelby.
Funeral Service: Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at 3 p.m., First Baptist Church in Lawndale.
Officiated By: Pastor Billy Houze.
Burial: will take place at the church cemetery.
Funeral Home: Enloe Mortuary is serving the family.

On this the anniversary of the passing of Uncle Ike, the Terrell-Houston families celebrate his life and legacy on earth and rejoice will his celebrating in Heaven his final home. Praise the Lord! Much love to our familY

It will be very hard to find the most loving, caring and helping hands as our family member, "Isaac". The "Glover" family will truly miss him.Any time anyone was in need, he had a helping hand. May God be with this famiy at this time and always.
