GAFFNEY, S.C.-The Rev. James E. Holder, 82, of 2390 Love Springs Road, passed away Feb. 3, 2011.

He is survived by one son, The Rev. Jim Holder and his wife, Sonya Jones Holder of Gaffney; one grandson, David Isaac Holder and his wife, Tina Marie Holder of Gaffney; two brothers, Robert Holder and wife, Frances of Mt. Airy and George Holder and wife, Lillian also of Mt. Airy; one sister, Carol Hawks and husband, Ray of Canaan, Va., and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, The Rev. and Mrs. Gurney Holder of Mt. Airy; a daughter, Teri Lynn Holder of Kings Mountain; a son, Joel T. Holder of Greenville, S.C.; his first wife, Euzelia Hamrick Holder and second wife, Frances Pinnix Martin Holder.
For sixty-three years, Rev. Holder served as pastor of churches in North Carolina and South Carolina. Included in these churches are; Ivey Green Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Wilkesboro, First Baptist Church, Whitnel, Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, Midway Baptist Church, Gaffney, S.C. and Park Hills Baptist Church (formerly Limestone Springs Baptist Church), Gaffney, S.C. He also served as interim Pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Kings Mountain and Nazareth Baptist Church, Blacksburg, S.C. He was a member of Park Hills Baptist Church.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Saturday at Blakely Funeral Home. All other times the family will be at the home of, Jim and Sonya Holder, 2392 Love Springs Road, Gaffney, S.C.
Funeral: 4 p.m. Saturday at Blakely Funeral Home Chapel
Interment: Frederick Memorial Gardens
