BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. James Junior Dover, 78, of 151 Dover Valley Road, formerly of Shelby, went home to be with the Lord Friday, July 25, 2008, at White Oak Manor in Shelby, North Carolina.

Born in Cherokee County, he was the loving husband of Rebecca Jane Curtis Dover for 58 years and the son of the late Jess Dover and Jonedith Crawford Dover. Mr. Dover was retired from Bethlehem Steel Industries and of the Baptist faith. He was an avid bowler, loved camping, gardening, old movies and bluegrass music.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are three sons, Ron Dover and wife, Becky, of Blacksburg, Dune Dover and wife, Liz, of Westville, Ind., and Dennis Dover Sr. of Shelby; one daughter, Sandy Kolosci of Lake Station, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Jeff Dover, Angie Dover, Joey Kolosci, Dennis Dover, Jason Kolosci, Nathan Dover, Jacob Dover, Kara Dover and Kayleigh Dover; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Johnny Dover and wife, Jesse, of Wellford, S.C., Jerry Dover and wife, Brenda, of Kings Mountain, Charles Dover and wife, Lisa, of Blacksburg, and Jackie Dover and wife, Jean, of Kings Mountain; one sister, Midge White of Cherryville. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Dover; a sister, Joyce Webber; and a son-in-law, Joe Kolosci Sr.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at Blakely Funeral Home.
