SHELBY-James Iraton Lilley, 82, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at his residence, 6006 Leo Drive.
A native of Gates County, he was born to the late Johnnie S. and Daisy Morris Lilley. He was preceded in death by a daughter, sister, and four brothers.
He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He retired from TII Corp. in Copiague, N.Y., and Green Leaf Florist in N.C.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Earlene C. Lilley; two daughters, Dr. Lorraine Lilley of Alameda, Calif., and Gay Price (Donald) of High Point; three sons, Gary Lilley of Belvidere, Apostle Bradford Lilley (Earnestine) of High Point, and Jeffrey Lilley (Helen) of Palm Springs, Calif.; a step-son, Jimmy Coleman (Diyouna) of Shelby; mother-in-law, Lillie Coleman of Shelby; brother-in-law, Woodrow Coleman of Charleston, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Minister Sallie Gill, Mary Coleman, Elizabeth Ross (James), Eva Abbott (Dr. Robert), and Julie Brooks (Johnny) of Shelby; aunt, Odessa Lilley Costen; three granddaughters; five grandsons; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Shoal Creek Baptist Church
