MOORESBORO-Mr. Joseph "Joe" Bernard Dockery Sr., 73, of Lucas Lane, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Welch, W.Va., he was the son of the late Joseph and Nell Noce Dockery. He served in the Coast Guard Reserves, was a graduate of Wake Forest, and coached Mooresville High School baseball and football from 1964 to 1966, where he was affectionately known as "Doc" to his players. He lived for anything sports.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Watts Dockery, of the home; two sons, Joey Dockery and wife Kamala of Shelby, and Tony Dockery of Mooresboro; two daughters, Cheryl Garland-Price, and Julie Dunn and husband Harley, all of Columbia, S.C.; sister, Theresa Triani of Fort Myers, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
