GASTONIA-Mrs. Joyce Barton Thomas McCullen, 55, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Gaston Memorial Hospital after a battle with cancer.

She was born Aug. 11, 1957, a daughter of the late James Howard Barton and Doris Hardin Clark.
Joyce was a store manager for AutoZone in Shelby for the last eight years. She was a very hardworking, giving person who enjoyed her home life. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Survivors of Mrs. McCullen include her husband Bobby K. McCullen Sr. of Gastonia; son, Sgt. Larry Gene Thomas Jr., U.S. Army, and wife Amanda of Ft. Hood, Texas; step-children and spouses, Wayne and Angelia McCullen of Gastonia, Dr. Bobby Jr. and Chris McCullen of Belmont, and Paige and Jorge Mesquita of Lake Wylie, S.C.; grandson, Levi Thomas; nine step-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan and George Swinney, Pamela and Ronnie Rymer, all of Dalton, Ga., Becky and Gary Minor of Chatsworth, Ga., Violet Marlow of Andrews; brother and sister-in-law, James and Myra Barton of Jacksonville, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Friday at Myers Memorial United Methodist Church.
Funeral Service: 2 p.m. Friday at the church
