Mrs. Katherine Schenck Whitworth was born on February 26, 1953 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Gwendolyn Schenck. She spent the majority of her younger years in New Jersey with the late Charles and Marie Wilson, her special uncle and aunt. She returned to Cleveland County as a young adult and married Grover Whitworth, Jr. in 1978. She peacefully departed this life on Friday, November 2, 2018 at home.

Katherine had an unconditional love for her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her entire family. Before she became ill, she enjoyed cooking, taking care of her flowers and spending time with her family. She had a great sense of humor and could always find a way to make people around her smile. She was a former employee of Bradington Young and Hanes Brand Incorporated. She also was a longtime member of Washington Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served on the mass choir.

Katherine was preceded in death by her mother, Gwendolyn Schenck; Charles and Marie Wilson, her special uncle and aunt; a brother, John Schenck and a step-son, Reginald Law.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 40 years, Grover Whitworth, Jr.; two step-sons, Quinton Kim Kevin Schenck (Shenita) of Charlotte, NC an Jeremy Schenck of Gastonia, NC; a step-daughter, Sylvia "Nikki" Law of Maiden, NC; two sisters, Margaret Gaines of Maxton, NC and Velma Young of New Jersey; one half sister, Marie Battle of Florence, SC; two brothers, Leon Schenck (Marilyn) of Huntsville, AL and Douglas Gaines, Jr. of Maxton, NC; five additional sisters-in-law, Betty Bridges, Goldene Kee, Brenda Floyd (Parnell), Nishie Whitworth and Blondie Chambers; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and two very special cousins, Susan Withrow and Shannon Wilford.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Washington Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Melvin L. Clark officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 1:30 PM on Saturday and at other times at the home.
