SHELBY- Kay Altie "Hope" Alexander, 64, passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2011, at her home.

A native of Cherokee, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Royce and Ella Sanders Humphries.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lane Alexander; brother, Royce Humphries Jr.; sisters, Lois White and Carol Duncan.
Mrs. Alexander was a teacher for over 35 years, in North and South Carolina. She was involved in Communities in Schools and Guardian Ad Litem in conjunction with DSS to help children. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Nathanael Green Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution; and Reedy River Falls Chapter Nationa Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by two sons, Bill Randolph and wife, Amy of Cherryville, Matt Alexander and fiancé Sarah Watson of the home; grandchildren, Ella Randolph and Sel Randolph; and siblings, Bobbie Jo Parker of Greenville, S.C., Peggy Dillard and husband, John of Travelers Rest, S.C., Jimmie Lowry and husband, Dennis of Gaffney and Brenda Humphrey of Gaffney.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home
Celebration of Life Service: 4 p.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church
