KINGS MOUNTAIN- Larry Gene "Horse" Baxter, 54, of 115 Thompson Drive, Kings Mountain, departed this life on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Caromont Medical Center in Gastonia. He was born on July 11, 1960, in Cleveland County to the late Oscar Degree and Clora Baxter Camp.

Larry was a graduate of Burns High School. He was employed with Hi-Tex for approximately nine years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved NASCAR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Brown; maternal grandparents, Roosevelt and Irene Bratton Baxter; his paternal grandparents, Leroy and Jessie Bell Hartgrove Degree; six uncles and three aunts.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Larry Nelson Baxter of Kings Mountain; his step-father, Bobby Camp of the home; his sister, Gloria Wilson (Joe) of Shelby; brothers, Richard Baxter of the home; a step-brother and sister, Robert Degree of Arizona and Audrey Degree of Detroit, Mich; four aunts, Betty Jo Robbs of Kings Mountain, Georgia Degree, Stephanie Degree and Judene Degree all of Shelby; three uncles, Floyd Brown of Kings Mountain, Gary Degree of Detroit, Mich. and Clyde Degree of Shelby; a special niece, Ashley Wilson of Shelby; four nephews, two great-nieces; one great-nephew; his girlfriend, Deborah "Niecy" Oates; four special friends, Carlos Owens, Anthony Wilson, William Wilson Jr. and Ronnie Webber; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday and at other times at the home of his sister, Gloria Wilson, 1737-2 Stoney Point Drive in Shelby.
Funeral services: Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church
