MOORESBORO -Larry (Pinto) Dean Caldwell, 68, of 2637 Wood Road, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at home.
Born in Startex, he was the husband of Dawn Smith Caldwell, of the home, who adored him, and the son of the late Bill Caldwell and Flarnell Kimbrell Caldwell.
He was a United States Navy Veteran and retired from PPG. He was an avid golfer, a North Carolina Fan and Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Caldwell was a member of Cherokee Creek Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and friend and loved the Lord.
In addition to his wife, also surviving are two sons, Jeff Caldwell and wife, Trina, of Cliffside and Mike Caldwell and wife, Chris, of Harris; a brother, Joel Caldwell of Lyman; a sister, Glenda Dills of Forest City; four grandchildren, Tara Caldwell Toney and husband, Clayton, Ashton Caldwell, Zac Caldwell and Dalton Caldwell; a precious great-granddaughter, Haidyn Toney; a sister in law, Candy Powell; a brother in law, Kevin Smith; a very special great nephew and niece, Owen and Reese Pedersen of Raleigh; special friends, David, Kim, Cody and Luke Matheney, Ruth and Robbie Wade and Bob and Nancy Peeler; host of other nieces and nephews and friends whom he loved dearly; a special Sunday school teacher and friend, Harrill Wallace; and mother of his children, Brenda Hamrick. Mr. Caldwell was preceded in death by a sister in law, Shirley Caldwell; a brother in law, Buddy Dills; and special friends, Wincie, Dorothy and Alpha McCraw. The family would like to acknowledge a special thanks to Dr. Frederick Zeller for his care over the past 10 years.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until 2 p.m. at Cherokee Creek Baptist Church.
Funeral: Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the church
