SHELBY- Mrs. Mary Ann Beam Geter, 75, of 905 Airport Road, Shelby was called home by her Heavenly Father on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, in Shelby, NC.

A native of Cleveland County, she was born on Oct. 26, 1937, to Hattie Thomas Phillips and Samuel Beam.
Mary was a member of White Oak Springs Baptist Church and was a faithful church worker. Although she was retired from Foothills Nursing Center, she always remained very active living life to the fullest. She enjoyed organizing and helping out at the Cypress Glenn Assisted Living where she resided. Some of her other pastimes included fishing and cooking. At the core of her being though was her love for people which she enjoyed doing for and helping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Geter; her brothers, Alfred Slater Beam, Willie Melvin Beam, Roger Beam and Alvin Beam and her sisters, Mildred Archie Deal and Ruby Lee Beam.
Left to cherish fond memories of her are three sons, Larry Beam (Deborah), Gregory Beam (Francelia) and Ernest Sherwood Beam (Annette) all of Shelby; two brothers, Samuel Beam (Dorothy) of Lawndale, NC and Johnny Beam of Shelby; four sisters, Docia Parks of Lawndale, Alline Beam and Janice Wimbush both of Shelby and Barbara Petty of Jacksonville, FL; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; a special friend and neighbor, Ms. Patterson of Shelby and a host of nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the church on Tuesday and at other times at the home of her son, Gregory Beam, 1209 N. Lafayette St. Shelby.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church

Burial: Sunset Cemetery
