CASAR-Michael "Mike" Eugene Chapman, 67, of Casar, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Born April 10, 1945, in Cleveland County, he was a son of Eugene Chapman.
Mike was retired from Carolina Freight in Cherryville and ABF in Kernersville. He was a faithful member of Zoar Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family. He was also an avid Duke fan watching every game.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Johnnie and Frances Matthews.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Matthews Chapman; two sons, Glenn Brackett and fiancee Teresa Brackett of Casar, and Garry Brackett of Casar; daughter, Shelia Hull and husband Mick of Casar; three beloved grandchildren, Luke Brackett and wife Heather, Allison and Kayla Hull; great-grandson, Lane Brackett; two brothers, Ray Chapman of Casar, and Tommy Chapman and wife Betsey of Belton, S.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Charles Buchannan of Spruce Pine; brother-in-law, Larry Matthews; and numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston.
Graveside Service: 3:30 p.m. Friday at Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar
