OSCAR MCFARLAND
LAWNDALE- Charlie Oscar "Hoss" McFarland, 85, of 674 Hicks Hill Road, Lawndale, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
He was born in Cleveland County on July 11, 1929, to the late Charlie Harrison McFarland and Rosa Frances White McFarland. He was retired from Doran Textiles in maintenance. He was also a member of New Home United Methodist Church and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
In additions to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Alice Fortenberry McFarland; two brothers, Plato McFarland and Charlie Harrison McFarland; and two sisters, Mary Lee Hunt and Iona Luckadoo.
He is survived by his two sons, Dan McFarland and wife Ruth and Michael Bailey and wife Debbie; grandson, Curtis Bailey and wife Ashley; two great grandchildren, Mica and Kala Bailey; and two sisters, Elector Robbins and Omie Davis.
Funeral Service: The family will hold a celebration of life service at the home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Burial: A private burial will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Funeral Home: Arrangements by Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Fallston.
Memorials: In Lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Because We Care Cleveland County Healthcare System, 201 E. Grover Street, Shelby, N.C. 28150 or to Hospice Cleveland County 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, N.C. 28150.
