SHELBY - Richard "Old Dude" Kennedy, 70, of 2807 Blacksburg Road, passed away Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at his residence. A native of Cass County, Mich., he was born July 25, 1943, son of the late George and Vivian Bower Kennedy. He served our country and is a veteran of the United States Army.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Culberson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Kennedy; two daughters, Cinda Fussell and Maxine Flournoy, both of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Sharon Northrop of Shelby, Pat Casey of Dowagiac, Mich., and Bonnie Gentry of Griffith, Ga.; one brother, Roger William Kennedy of Dowagiac, Mich.; five grandchildren, Michael, Charlie, Kevin Fussell, and Mitchell, Richard Cavenaugh; five great-grandchildren, Jaden, Braylei, Gauge, Michali, and Destiny; and many nieces and nephews but two special ones, Kenny Kennedy and Debbie Webster.
Memorial service: 5 p.m. Monday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel of Shelby.
