SHELBY- Ricky Lee McCurry, 50, died Monday Sept. 16, 2013, as a result of a truck accident in Tennessee. Born on Dec. 23, 1962, in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Lee McCurry and Mildred Ruff Jones. Ricky drove a delivery truck for Merita in the Rutherford County area for eight years, and for the last ten years he worked for Southern Shavings in Cherryville. Ricky was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family, taking camping trips, fishing, tubing and being outdoors. He loved being with people and was compassionate to others in need. He thought nothing of helping with money or time and always gave of himself.

In addition to his father, Ricky is preceded in death by a son, Joshua Lee McCurry.
Ricky is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sheila Gamble McCurry; stepmother, Lana Whitworth McCurry of Marion; two sons, Dillon McCurry and fiancée Kenley Burdett of Shelby, and Rick Yelton and wife Astin of Harris; two daughters, Brandy Waters and husband Patrick of Rutherfordton, and Nickie Yelton of Forest City; a brother, Gerald Jones of Blacksburg, S.C.; a sister, Tina McGowen of Cowpens, S.C.; six grandchildren, Dominic Carbonetti, Ary McCurry, Cooper Bowen, Addisyn Waters, Bailey Bowen, and Cullen Waters.; and former wife, Charlene Fernanders of Spartanburg, S.C.
Gathering of Friends: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
