KINGSTOWN-- Robert Parrish, 67, of 1713 Kingston Road, departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was born on April 1, 1946, to the late Henry Parrish, Sr. and Laura Cross Parrish.
Robert attended Douglas High School. He was employed with Carter Chevrolet and retired from PPG Industries after 22 years of service. Robert was known for his hobbies which included working with small engines and automotives. He was the owner and operator of PSW Services. He and Mr. Leroy Johnson were owners and operators of a Shell gas station in the early 1970's. He was also the owner of an eighteen wheeler in which they did long distant driving.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Parrish, Jr. and Carl Pete Parrish; and two sisters, Mattie Bell Buchner and Linda Ramseur.
Left to cherish many fond memories is his loving wife of 45 years, Jessie Lou Lee Parrish; one son, Jeffrey Parrish (Traveka) of Shelby; two daughters, Kim Parrish Wright of Kingstown, and Shanae' (Laterrell) of Perth Amboy, N.J.; three sisters, Mattie Mae Parrish of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sarah Moore of Hyattsville, Md. and Lois Guice (John) of Houston Texas; four brothers, Elbert Parrish of Kingstown, Harold Parrish and Larry Parrish, both of Shelby, and Tommy Parrish (Dely) of Cornelius; 11 grandchildren, Todd Parrish, II, Quortez Wright, Tisha Wright, JeQualyn Parrish, Jocelyn Parrish, Ziya Wright, Kylan Foye, Zayla Foye, Devontae Foye, Kareena Foye and Rakell Foye; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Louise Pettis (Johnny) of Shelby and Vera Mckinzie (Leonard) of Kingstown; three brothers-in-law, Jeremiah Lee (Maxine) of Detroit, Mich., Newton Buchner of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Sammie Lee of Asheville; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the church, and at other times at the home.
Funeral Service: 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Eskridge Grove Baptist Church
