SHORTY HASTINGS
CASAR- Earl Moten Hastings, 89, of Corinth Church Circle, Casar, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at Carolina Healthcare System - Cleveland in Shelby.
He was born in Cleveland County, on Nov. 25, 1925, to the late Moses Andrew Hastings and Goldie Walker Hastings. He was retired from Cleveland Mills and cattle trading and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Edith McNeilly Hastings; infant daughter; and three brothers, Paul Hastings, Hugh Hastings, and Nelson Hastings.
He is survived by two brothers, WA Hastings of Polkville and Dale Hastings of Kings Mountain; six sisters, Merle H. Brooks of Charlotte, Dorothy Ann Reynolds of Drexel, Jane Cook of Polkville, Eloice Hastings of Valdese, Mozelle Lingerfelt of Belmont; and Roberta Penland of Icard, special nephew, Donnie McNeilly and wife Sara of Casar; special great niece, Amelia McNeilly of Casar and special friend, Edith Bridges of Polkville.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., Fallston.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, at Corinth Baptist Church, Casar, with the Rev. Robert Goins and the Rev. Danny McNeilly officiating.
Burial will be at Clover Hill United Methodist Church, Casar.
Memorials may be made to Corinth Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 188, Casar, NC 28020.

I was truly blessed to have been able to help care for Shorty and to come to know and love him as one of my own family members. He will be truly missed. And remembered always. He was a special man!! My thoughts & prayers are with you all during this time!

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends during this difficult time. I hope that the promise found in 1 Thessalonians 4 : 14 can bring you some comfort. Knowing that there is a future for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring.
