SHELBY- Steve Newton, 66, of Pecan Dr, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary Sanders Newton. He retired from Drywall Carolina in Charlotte and had a love for racing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four brothers; and five sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Diane Curtis Newton, of the home; sons, Stevie Philbeck and girlfriend, Melinda Drake, and Scott Newton and girlfriend Rhonda Scott, all of Shelby; sisters, Muriel Bridges of Shelby, Shirley Brady and husband Dub of Delight, and Brenda Pruett of Casar; brother, Ricky Newton of Shelby; grandchildren, Taylor, Jennifer, Fallon, Tyler, Blair, and Michael; great-grandchildren, Avery, Eden, and Chandler; and pet poodle, Choco.
Services: Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel
Visitation: The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6 p.m. to 7:30p.m., at the funeral home.
