WILMINGTON- Sylvia R. Bridges, 77, passed away on Wednesday Aug. 28, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones in Wilmington..

Mrs. Bridges was born on Sept. 2, 1935, in Rutherfordton, daughter of the late Boyd Rippy and Clara Dalton Rippy. She is also preceded in death by one sister, Rosemary Roark; and one brother, Bryon Rippy.
Mrs. Bridges was a woman who was loved and admired by many people. She was a devoted Christian, loyal and Compassionate friend, and beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time in the Word, painting, drawing and investing in the lives of others.
Mrs. Bridges is survived by her brother, Jack Rippy. Mrs. Bridges was the mother of and survived by Sherry Spencer and husband Joel, Dixon Bridges Jr., and Chris Bridges and wife Barbara; grandmother and survived by Josh Patterson, Amanda Rau, Cameron Bridges, and Brandon Bridges; and great-grandmother to Ella Rau. She is also survived by step-grandsons Shawn Spencer and family and Chauncey Spencer and family.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lower Cape Fear Hospice for their Excellent care and support.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Winter Park Baptist Church in Wilmington
Burial: Will be private at Oleander Gardens
Funeral Home: The staff of Coble Ward Smith is honored to serve the family.
