SHELBY - Thomas Hammond, 75, of West Elm Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at his home. He was the son of the late Jake and Ola Thomas Hammond. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and a business owner for many years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gayla Lynn Hammond of the home; two sons, Eddie Hammond of Granite Falls, and Todd Hammond and wife Cindy of Charlotte; daughter, Kelli Sullivan and Richard Diminich of Shelby; two sisters, Peggy Davis and husband C.L. of Belwood, and Betty Howie and husband J.G. of Polkville; brother, Roger Hammond and wife Lucille of Lincolnton; and five grandchildren, Thomas and Adam Hammond, Bryce Sullivan, and Olivia and Kristin Hammond.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and at other times at home.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel
