SHELBY-Tony Lamar Hastings, 67, of East Main Street, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at Hospice Wendover.

Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of John and Frances Hastings Phifer of Shelby. Mr. Hastings served in the Army, retired as an engineer from PPG after 42 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved working in the yard and enjoyed playing golf and basketball in his free time.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hastings is survived by his two daughters, Melanie Barrett and husband Wesley, and Kelly Auton and husband Troy, all of Shelby; former wife and mother of his children, Rita Hastings of Shelby; two sisters, Debbie Morgan and husband Steve of Ga., and Vicki Knapp and husband Steve of Shelby; a brother, Michael Phifer of Shelby; and three grandchildren, Brandon Rogers, Morgan Rogers, and Taylor Auton.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home & Crematory, and other times at the home at 907 East Main Street, Shelby.
Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Friday at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory

Burial: Sunset Cemetery, following the service, with full military honors
