A native of Cleveland County, she was born on July 17, 1955, daughter of the late Max and Margaret Cabaniss McSwain.
She retired from Cleveland Regional Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist and was a member of Zoar Baptist Church of Shelby. Vanessa enjoyed making floral arrangements and going to antique auctions. She also enjoyed watching TV with her husband, Ernie. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her granddaugh-ter, Lyla and getting to be "Gigi."
She is survived by her husband, Richard Thomas "Ernie" Willis; one daughter, Emilee Willis Galloway and husband Nathan of Virginia Beach, VA; her sisters, Suzanne Hunsucker and husband Mike of Fort Mill, SC, and Linda Carpenter and husband Dwight of Belwood; her granddaugher, Lyla Jewel Galloway of Virginia Beach, VA; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tommy and Jane Willis of Shelby; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Nina Willis and their son, Andy, all of Shelby.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Zoar Baptist Church of Shelby with the Rev. Dr. Rob Helton officiating.
Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:45 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of Zoar Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Tommy and Jane Willis, Bear Creek Road, Shelby.
