HICKORY - Walter Glenn Jenkins, 81, passed away March 1, 2014, at Trinity Village, after a period of declining health.

Walter was born Jan. 31, 1933, in Cleveland County, to the late Willie Watkins "Will" and Ola Mae Jenkins Jenkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bowen and Jennie Whisnant; and two brothers, Ray and James Jenkins.
He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, co-owner and operator of Jenkins, Davidson, Holland Assoc. and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Swanson Jenkins of the home; daughter, Lisa Jenkins of Charlotte; step-daughter, Kimberly Rae Poovey and husband Johnny of Taylorsville; step-son, Jeffrey Wayne Kiziah of the home; grandson, Alex Jenkins of Charlotte; step-grandson, Conner L. Poovey of Taylorsville; brother, Max Jenkins of Shelby; and a sister, Libby Hastings and husband Norris of Shelby.
A special heart felt thank you to the staff, "Our Extended Family" at Trinity Village, who showed such precious love and support.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Memorial service: 3 p.m. Thursday at Lakeview Baptist Church
