SHELBY - Matha Wilda Bridges, 77, passed away June 18, 2013, at Harris Hospice in Charlotte.

A native of Cleveland county, she was born Nov. 28, 1935, daughter of the late Oscar and Ocie Cooper Bridges. She was a faithful and devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Charles Bridges, and one sister, Ruby Laws.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ray Bridges of the home; one son, David Bridges and wife Debbie and one daughter, Kathy Hege and husband Joe (Luke) all of Shelby; four sisters, Trib Ellis, Dot Curtis, Marie Hoyle all of Shelby, and Delores Adams of Spartanburg, SC; one brother Forrest Bridges of Shelby; four grandchildren, Josh Bridges, Matthew Hege, Joel Hege, and Laura Hege; one great granddaughter, Hannah Hege.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Rev. Leland A. Kerr officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church the day of the service.

Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
