SHELBY - Will Jackson Ross Sr. was born in Cleveland County Sept. 8, 1923, to the late Will Preston Ross and Carrie Oats Ross. His Soul departed from his body Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at Peak Resource Center.

Will joined Washington Baptist Church membership at an early age where he served as a Trustee, Building Fund, Sunday school member and faithful church member. He Attended John Chavis and Washington schools.
On June 11, 1944, Will was married to Thelma Howell, and to this union eight children were born. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Thelma on March 22, 2001.
Nov. 2005, Will was married to Othella Logan, who also preceded him in death on May 3, 2010. Together Will and Thelma owned and operated the Will Jackson Ross Home for the Aged for 33 years. They also farmed and sold produce to Cleveland County residents and the surrounding areas.
Will had a great compassion for farming and observing his crops grow. Will also worked at Howell Mfg. and retired from Carolina Freight Carriers with over 25 years of service. Will also served in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by his beloved son Will Jackson Ross II (Bobby); daughter Mary Roberts Bostic; brothers, Ralph, W.C., Ezell, John and David; and Sisters, Geneva, Lina Mae and Ola Bell.
He leaves to cherish the memory of his life, two brothers, Robert and Joseph Ross; and one sister, Josephine Hunt; Gwendolyn Ross Cole (Bobby); daughters, Libby J. Foster (James), Maggie D. Stevenson (Garry), Antwynette R. Littlejohn (d. Henry), Alice C. Padgett (McArthur), Veronica R. Greene (Joseph) and Wendy R. Porter (Willie); two sons, Maverick Ross (Mary) and Christopher Roberts (Kathryn); 32 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral service: 2 p.m. Saturday at Washington Baptist Church in Waco
